Pirramimma McLaren Vale Katunga"GTS" 2014
An unusual blend of Grenache, Tannat, and Shiraz that always impresses. You will fall in love with its structured and complex, smoky black fruit, and hefty yet balanced presence. This is a perennially big, delicious wine that calls for equally big cuts of meat, steak, or ribs.
GTS is a unique blend of Grenache, Tannat and Shiraz.
It imparts violets, fejoia and stewed quince on the bouquet, with the palate delivering sage, anise and cigar box flavours, whilst the Shiraz which was French oak matured, adds chocolate, Satsuma plum and pepper in addition to backbone and length of flavour.
Please double decant & enjoy with ox- tail, paella, chateaubriand, schweinshaxe, soft blue vein cheese or a rich dish.
The Grenache component which provides the sweet front palate was matured in older oak barriques to maintain fresh varietal characters of rose petal, raspberry and subtle spice. The famously tannic Tannat which supplies the power and weight in the middle, was seasoned in 2 year old American hogshead. It imparts violets, quince, liquorice, red currant and sage, whilst the Shiraz which was French and American oak matured, adds chocolate, red plum and star of anise in addition to the backbone and length of character.
